Nestled among East Hampton’s traditional farmhouses, the house takes its cues from the neighborhood. A steep gabled roofline, a nod to the area’s farmhouse vernacular, shelters soaring sloped ceilings inside. The form is distinctly modern, though, and the material palette is quiet and restrained: vertical Alaskan yellow cedar, corrugated aluminum, and expansive floor-to-ceiling glass.

A glass corridor runs through the center of the plan, separating private rooms from public ones while guiding movement and sightlines from one end of the home to the other. Generous glazing keeps the landscape ever present, and the glass-walled entry opens onto a small courtyard and continuous decking that blur the line between inside and out.

The two volumes contrast in character. The two-story sleeping wing rises vertically, while a long, low volume holds the living room, kitchen, dining area, and garage. This public wing faces the street and opens easily to the pool and grill area at the rear. The bedrooms sit farther back, tucked toward the rear and side yard, where the house feels calm and secluded.
